The EPAct of 2005 legislation provides a tax deduction (up to $.60 sq/ft) for improving the lighting efficiency of commercial buildings.
- The standard for rating the electrical efficiency of the lighting system is ASHRAE/IESNA Standard 90.1-2001.
- Building owner may take up to $.60 sq/ft as a one-time tax deduction.
- Warehouses must outperform the ASHRAE/IESNA Standard 90.1-2001 lighting requirements by 50% to qualify for the full $.60 sq/ft deduction.
